GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The No. 69 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will head to Cary, N.C. on Thursday, April 25 to take on the No. 14 Duke Blue Devils at 3 p.m.

The Blue Devils are the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament and the Hokies are the No. 11 seed.

The Hokies finished their regular season campaign last weekend with matches against Miami and Florida State in Blacksburg. Tech fell to No. 10 Miami 1-4 and No. 32 Florida State 1-4.

Tech also honored seniors Megan Conley and Emily Lauten before their last home match on Sunday, April 21 against Florida State.

The Hokies wrapped up the season with a 13-11, 2-9 ACC record and garner a No. 69 ranking heading into the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. The Hokies started the season unranked and climbed up to No. 55 during the week of March 22 for their highest mark of the season.

Ilinca Stoica broke into the rankings this week to be the first Hokie to crack the rankings all season. She is ranked No. 125 heading into the match against Duke and will most likely take on No. 27 Hanna Mar, who Stoica took on earlier in the year. The two didn’t finish their match after the team match was decided. When their match was ended, Stoica trailed, 0-6, 4-3.

Earlier this season, Tech fell to Duke in Durham, N.C. 1-4 on Saturday March 30. The Hokies claimed the doubles point, but ultimately fell in singles play. Other than Mar, Duke has three players ranked in No. 50 Ester Goldfeld, No. 109 Mary Clayton and No. 119 Marianna Jodin.
