BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 62 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will play two matches at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center this weekend. On Friday, April 5, the Hokies will take on No. 44 N.C. State at 2 p.m. Action continues on Sunday, April 7 as Tech faces Wake Forest.
Last weekend, the Hokies traveled to North Carolina and Duke. On Friday, March 29, the Hokies fell to the No. 1 Tar Heels, 7-0. The following day, Tech dropped the second match of the weekend to No. 7 Duke, 4-1. After the weekend, the Hokies have a record of 13-5 and dropped two spots in the ITA rankings to No. 62.
N.C. State made the southern sweep last weekend as they traveled to Miami and Florida State. The Wolfpack dropped both matches, 7-0, 4-0 respectively. Following the 0-2 weekend, N.C. State fell from No. 35 to No. 44 in the ITA rankings and bring a 10-5 record to Blacksburg.
The Wolfpack are led by No. 35 Joelle Kissell and No. 92 Tatiana Illova in singles play.
Wake Forest brings a 1-14 record to Blacksburg. The Demon Deacons also fell at Florida State and Miami last weekend. Wake Forest will travel to Virginia to take on the Cavaliers on Saturday before making their way to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies.
Tech returns to action next weekend as they travel to Clemson on Saturday, April 13 and Georgia Tech on Sunday, April 14.
