No. 55 Hokies travel to UVa

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 55 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on in-state rival Virginia on Saturday, March 23 at Noon at the Snyder Tennis Center.

The Hokies went 3-0 last week in two road trips. On Wednesday, Tech traveled to Hammond, La. for a double-header and defeated Southern, 7-0, and Southeastern Louisiana, 6-1.

The Hokies then traveled north to Boston College and defeated the No. 63 Eagles, 4-3 to improve to 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.

Leading the Hokies were Ilinca Stoica, Raluca Mita and Carol Kahoun, who all went 3-0 in singles play last week.

Virginia enters Saturday’s match with a 6-6 record and a No. 32 ITA ranking. The Cavaliers have two players ranked in the March 12 ITA rankings (No. 13 Julia Elbaba and No. 71 Stephanie Nauta).

Virginia also has two pairs ranked in doubles (No. 10 Erin Vierra/Maci Epstein and No. 18 Li Xi/Stephanie Nauta).

The Hokies return to action on Friday, March 29 as they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
