BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team saw three singles players advance in the main draw and one doubles team as it completed day two of the USTA/ ITA Regional at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech Campus. Fourteen schools remain of the 23 that began the regional. Seven of the top eight seeds are still alive in singles play, while all eight remain in doubles action.
The doubles combo of Raluca Mita/ Kelly Williford got the Hokies out to a good start on the second day as they picked up the only Tech doubles win of the day first thing in the morning. VCU’s Olga Barsheheuska went three sets with 9-16 seeded Kim Berghaus from UMBC. The hard work paid off as she knocked off the seeded opponent with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory.
