
BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team opens play at home Friday morning with the Hokie Fall Invite. Play will be at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center from September 28-30. The Invite will consist of four flights of singles and two doubles flights.
All 11 Hokies on the 2012-2013 roster will be competing in both singles and doubles competition. Ilinca Stoica, Carol Kahoun and Isel Martinez-Marcos will compete in Flight A of the singles competition.
Raluca Mita and Emily Lauten will represent the Hokies in Flight B, while Megan Conley, Tea Ivanovic and Kelly Williford will compete in Flight C of the singles competition. Rounding out the Hokie effort this weekend will be Frances Peyton, Mashal Temory and Laura Rathmun in Flight D.
Three doubles teams will represent Tech in Flight A of doubles competition as Mita and Williford, Stoica and Martinez-Marcos and Kahoun and Ivanovic team up. In Flight B, the Hokies will be represented by teams of Peyton and Rathmun and Lauten and Conley. Temory will play alongside Allison Michael in doubles Flight B.
Ten teams are traveling to Blacksburg for the Hokie Fall Invite. Armstrong Atlantic, East Tennessee State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee State, Radford, UMBC, UNC-Wilmington, William & Mary, Winthrop and Wofford will be playing in the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center this weekend.
This is the 19th Annual Hokie Fall Invite and the first of two home tournaments for Tech this fall.
