Hokies to host fall ITA Regional.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team has released its 2012-13 schedule that will feature 24 dual matches and seven fall tournaments. The Hokies will host an ITA Regional during the fall season, and are slated to compete against five teams that finished last season ranked in the top 20 in the final ITA Poll.

Tech will begin the year this weekend as the team will split up and head to either Liberty or Elon. Following the opening weekend, the Hokies will head to Amelia Island, Fla. for the ITF Circuit.

After two tournaments on the road, Tech will return to Blacksburg to host the Hokie Fall Invitational from September 28-30 and an ITA Regional from October 18-23.

That will end the home stand for the Hokies in the fall, as they travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Augusta Challenge from November 2-3, before the fall season wraps up in Chapel Hill, N.C., at the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

The spring tennis season kicks off on January 20 as the Hokies host Davidson and Navy in a double-header. The Hokies continue the spring season at home against Louisville (Feb. 1), Minnesota (Feb. 3), and William & Mary (Feb. 9). The Hokies round out the early home schedule with a double-header against Maryland-Baltimore County and Liberty on February 10.

Tech will then make their first road trip of the spring to Boston College on February 16, followed by trips to Virginia Commonwealth on February 19 and West Virginia on March 2.

Tech returns to Blacksburg for their next three matches against Richmond (Mar. 3) Marshall (Mar. 9) and Maryland (Mar. 10).

The Hokies then travel to Hammond, Louisiana to take on Southern and South Eastern Louisiana University on March 14. The road matches continue through the end of March as Tech travels to take on Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. on March 23, North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on March 29 and Duke in Durham, N.C., on March 30.

The first weekend of April will feature tennis back in Blacksburg as the Hokies take on North Carolina State on April 5 and Wake Forest on April 7.

A two-day road trip will follow as Tech stops in Clemson, S.C., to take on the Tigers on April 13 before heading to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Georgia Tech the next day.

The Hokies wrap up the spring season at home against Miami on April 20 and Florida State on April 21.

The ACC Championships are scheduled for April 25-28 in Cary, N.C.
