BLACKSBURG, Va. – Women’s tennis student-athlete Martha Blakely has been named Virginia Tech’s 2012 Outstanding Graduating Senior in College of Science as announced by the university.
Blakely has been a strong competitor on the women’s tennis team during her four years at Tech and has excelled both on and off the court. She has tallied almost 70 singles wins during her career and has earned a spot on the ACC All-Academic team each of the past three seasons. In addition, Blakely has been a recipient of the athletic department’s Skelton Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics and the Frank Loria Award, which is presented to one student-athlete annually who exemplifies outstanding leadership and scholarship. Blakely also earned an ACC postgraduate scholarship, which is given to three student-athletes from each member institution.
