Hokies travel to No. 65 William & Mary
Women's tennis set for road match against Tribe

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will travel across the state to face No. 65 William & Mary on Tuesday, March 20 in a 1 p.m. match at the Millie West Tennis Facility.

The Hokies (10-5) are looking to extend their three match win streak on Tuesday. Tech picked up an ACC win over the weekend, defeating No. 53 Boston College, 5-2. Virginia Tech claimed the doubles point and followed it up with singles wins from Isel Martinez-Marcos, Shannon Betts, Carol Kahoun and Emily Lauten.

Betts and Kahoun have both won 10 matches in dual play this season. Betts has primarily played in the No. 3 with a 9-3 mark while Kahoun has seen time in the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6. Martha Blakely and Lauten have tallied nine wins each.

The Tribe’s (4-11) match against the Hokies will mark the third straight for W&M against an ACC opponent. William & Mary fell to Virginia, 6-1 the last time out. The Tribe is led by Maria Belaya, who is 109th in the latest ITA singles standings. In doubles, Belaya and teammate Jeltje Loomans are 39th.

Following the midweek match, the Hokies will return to Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center to host No. 5 Duke and No. 15 North Carolina in a pair of ACC weekend matches.
