BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will host ACC foe No. 53 ranked Boston College on Saturday, March 17 in a 10:30 a.m. match at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Tech (9-5) is coming off a 7-0 shutout of Florida Gulf Coast the last time out. The Hokies swept all six singles matches and won two of three doubles for the point. Martha Blakely, Isel Martinez-Marcos, Shannon Betts, Courtney Rauscher, Emily Lauten and Carol Kahoun claimed singles wins.
Blakely and Betts are 9-4 on the season in singles while Kahoun is adding a 9-5 mark. Lauten is 8-6 and Martinez-Marcos and Rauscher have both tallied six singles wins this season.
Boston College (7-6) fell to No. 12 Miami in the Eagles’ last match. The Hurricanes swept the singles and doubles matches. BC has two doubles tandems ranked in the latest ITA poll. Alex Kelleher and Olga Khymylev are 36th while Jessica Wacnik and Erina Kikuchi are 62nd.
Tech will travel to William & Mary for a mid-week non-conference match in Williamsburg, Va. before returning home to host No. 15 North Carolina and No. 5 Duke next weekend.
