Tech women's tennis earns preseason ranking
Hokies enter spring season ranked No. 60

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team received a No. 60 national preseason ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, joining all 12 teams from the ACC in the poll.

Tech concluded the 2011 season with a No. 58 ranking after tallying a record of 10-15, including three wins over nationally ranked opponents. Eight players return from last year’s team that finished sixth in the Atlantic region. Martha Blakely is back after finishing last season 12th in the region while she and partner Courtney Rauscher, who also returns for the Hokies, were tied for 10th in the doubles regional standings at the end of the 2011 season.

Joining the Hokies from the ACC in the standings is: No. 3 Duke, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 9 Virginia, No. 11 Miami, No. 13 Georgia Tech, No. 14 Clemson, No. 17 Florida State, No. 34 NC State, No. 40 Maryland, No. 45 Boston College and No. 62 Wake Forest.
