WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Wake Forest Invitational on Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Shannon Betts and Courtney Rauscher teamed up in the doubles B draw, facing Sandra Herrera and Giovanni Portioli of Winthrop in the third place match. The Hokies’ duo battled against the pair from Winthrop, but the Eagle’s duo held off Tech to claim a 9-8(2) win.
Rauscher fell to Elon's Frida Jansacker , 6-4, 6-2,in the semifinals of the singles C draw consolation bracket.
Virginia Tech’s Martha Blakely will be in action on Monday as she opens up at the Williamsburg ITF Circuit on at 9:30 a.m. after having a bye in Sunday’s opening round.
