WILMINGTON, N.C. – Members of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition on Saturday at the UNCW Collegiate Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.
In the flight A singles, Shannon Betts defeated Ikttesh Chahal, 6-3, 6-3 in the consolation bracket. The Tech player went on to take a 6-4, 7-5 decision over WVU’s Melis Tanick to advance to the championship of the consolation bracket. On Sunday, Betts will face Furman’s Margaret Boyette.
Katie Blow picked up a win for the Hokies in the flight B singles, defeating Madeline Jaeger of Georgetown, 6-2, 7-6(3) but fell to Christina Riley of UNCW, 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
Competition will conclude at the UNCW Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.
