BLACKSBURG, Va. –The Virginia Tech women’s concluded a perfect weekend Sunday evening with at 7-0 win over Davidson at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. The Hokies, who defeated Maryland, 4-3, Saturday afternoon and Maryland-Baltimore County, 7-0, Sunday morning, imporved to 5-4 on the year, while Davidson fell to 4-7.

The Hokies sweep all three doubles and all six singles matches without the loss of a set in the victory.

In singles action, Yasmin Hamza (Sr., Cairo, Egypt) defeated Stephani Synn, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1, Martha Blakely (Sr., Reading, Pa.) won, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 over Alison Raugh and Holly Johnson (Sr., Tallahassee, Fla.) beat Brites Moniz-Soares, 6-1, 6-2. In the remaining matches, Shannon Betts cruised past Samantha Galainena, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4, Isel Martinez-Marcos (Fr., Esparreguera, Spain) won her No. 5 contest, 6-0, 6-2, over Romina Clemente and Emily Lauten (So., Marietta, Ga.) the the No. 6 match, 6-2, 6-1, against Tamara Hill.

Tech swept the doubles for the first point of the day, Blakely/Courtney Rauscher (So., Evans, Ga.) took the No. 1 match, 8-3, over Moniz-Soares/Rauh and Katie Blow (Jr., Richmond, Va.)/Johnson defeated Galinena/Synn, 8-1, at No. 2. The Hokies completed the doubles sweep as Tea Ivanovic (Fr., Antwerp, Belgium)/Martinez-Marcos won, 8-4, at No. 3 over Clemente/Hill.

Tech returns to action on Mar. 5 with an 11 a.m., match at No. 29 Virginia Commonwealth which will be followed by a Mar. 6 contest at No. 23 Virginia (1 p.m.).
