Blakely, Johnson advance to Hokie Fall Invite singles finals
Tech doubles teams to play for Flight C title

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team continued to have a very successful tournament on Saturday in the 17th Annual Hokie Fall Invitational. The event features 100 players from 15 teams and 26 countries. The tournament, which concludes Sunday, is being held at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. Both the indoor and outdoor courts are being utilized during the tournament with play to begin at 9 a.m. each day. Admission is free.

The event features players from Davidson, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Liberty, Louisville, Marshall, Maryland-Baltimore County, Radford, Richmond, Penn State, UNC Wilmington, William & Mary, Winthrop and host Virginia Tech.

In singles, Holly Johnson (Sr., Tallahassee, Fla.) advanced to the Flight A singles title where she will face Julia Fellerhoff (Louisville) in the final Sunday at 10 a.m. Also at 10 a.m., Martha Blakely (Jr., Reading, Pa.), will play for the Flight C singles title against Hannah Fick (Liberty)

Tech also advanced two doubles teams to the Flight C title match Sunday at 9 a.m., where Isel Martinez-Marcos (Fr., Esparreguera, Spain/Courtney Rauscher (Jr., Evans, Ga.) will face Katie Blow (Jr., Richmond, Va./Megan Conley (So., Knoxville, Tenn.). Both teams won two matches Saturday morning to advance to the finals.

Sunday’s action opens with the doubles finals in all three flights followed by singles title matches in all flights.
