RADFORD, Va. – Tea Ivanovic took third place in Flight A singles on the final day of the inaugural Radford Fall Tournament. The two day event was played at the Radford Tennis Complex and at the Bisset Park courts.
Ivanovic (Fr., Antwerpen, Belgium) lost, 6-3, 6-3, in her Flight A semifinal versus Jordan Jenkins (Liberty), then defeated Cameron Richard (Liberty), 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4), in the third place contest. Elsewhere, Katie Blow (Jr., Richmond, Va.) lost her Flight A1 consolation match, 6-4, 3-6,, 1-0 (6), against Jessica Thaggard (Appalachian State), then lost, 5-7, 7-6 (3), 1-0 (4) to Zsofia Jakeb (Longwood). Megan Conley (So., Knoxville, Tenn.) lost, 6-2, 6-0, in the Flight B consolation to Veronika Bohm (Longwood) and later in the day dropped a, 6-2, 6-2, decision to Kristen Nimitz (James Madison).
In doubles action, Blow/Courtney Rauscher (Jr., Evans, Ga.) won their Flight A consolation match, 8-3, over Petra Dajevic/Emerald Larzon (Radford). Conley/Ivanovic were victorious in their Flight B consolation contest, 8-3, versus Hannah Hill/Veronika Bohm (Longwood)
Tech will next host the 17th Annual Hokie Fall Invitational, Oct. 1-3, at the Burleson-Burrows Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
