RALEIGH, N.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team fell to the No. 32 NC State Wolf Pack, 6-1, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Hokies, who fall to 9-11 on the year and 2-8 in the ACC, were only able to claim one singles and one doubles match over the Wolf Pack, who move to 11-9 overall and 3-7 in the ACC.

In singles action, NC State’s Berkeley Brock defeated Martha Blakely (So., Reading, Pa.) (6-2, 6-2) in the second spot, which was followed by a 7-5, 6-1 victory for Tech’s Emily Lauten (Fr., Marietta, Ga.) over Tana Illova at the No. 5 spot.

Tech went on the drop four more matches after its only singles victory of the day as Holly Johnson (Jr., Tallahassee, Fla.) fell to Chloe Smith (1-6, 6-4, 6-1) in the sixth seed, Courtney Rauscher (So., Evans, Ga.) was defeated by Daria Petrovic (6-4, 2-6, 6-1) at No. 4, Shannon Betts (So., Newnan, Ga.) dropped the No. 2 match to Lenka Hojchova (4-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Yasmin Hamza (Jr., Cairo, Egypt) was unable to get it done after a big, 6-0, first set victory, falling 7-5, 6-0 in the final two sets to Sandhya Nagaraj in the No. 1 seed.

The Hokies dropped two matches in doubles play to lose the point, winning only the No. 2 match as Betts/ Blakely defeated Hojckova/ Illova, 9-7. In No. 1 action, Tech’s Hamza/ Johnson fell to Nagaraj/ Petrovic, 8-3, and Lauten/ Rauscher lost the No. 3 game, 8-6, to Brock/ Smith.

The Hokies will return to action on Saturday, April 17 as they return home to host Clemson at Noon.
