Tech returns home for two matches
Hokies host Louisville and South Alabama

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team returns to action at 5 p.m., Friday, when the Hokies play the Louisville Cardinals at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Tech will also host the South Alabama Jaguars in a Sunday contest at noon. The Hokies, ranked No. 73 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, are 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the ACC after taking a 5-2 decision last week over Maryland in their conference opener.

Louisville (5-3, 0-2 Big East) opened the season with five straight wins, but has dropped three consecutive entering Friday’s match against the Hokies. Virginia Tech leads the series, 6-1, with the Cardinals picking up their lone victory with a, 5-2, win in Louisville during the 2008 season.

South Alabama (1-3) picked up its first victory of year last week with a, 4-3, Sun Belt Conference win over New Orleans. The Jaguars will play Louisville on Saturday before the Sunday match with the Hokies. South Alabama leads the series, 4-0.

Following this weekend’s action, Tech will travel to Richmond on March 13 for a 1 p.m. match against the Spiders.
