BLACKSBURG, Va. – Several members of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will travel to North Carolina this weekend to participate in the Kitty Harrison Invitational. The tournament is hosted by the University of North Carolina and will be held at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center where both indoor and outdoor courts will be utilized. Matches will also be played at Duke University’s Amble Tennis Stadium and Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
The tournament will feature players from Duke, Florida, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, NC State, Princeton, TCU, Virginia, Virginia Tech and William & Mary. Each player will participate in four rounds of singles and four rounds of doubles. There will be no team scoring in the event.
Tech players will see their first action on Friday, Nov. 6, at 9 a.m., at UNC in doubles followed by singles action at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s schedule has the Hokies at Duke where they will play doubles at 9 a.m. and singles at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Tech will move back to UNC where the Hokies will play doubles at 9 a.m. and singles at 10:30 a.m.
Following this weekend’s action, Tech will open the dual match season on Jan. 27 when the Hokies host Elon in a 6 p.m. contest.
