Tech bounces back at Landings Invitational
Hokies win three singles matches

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Katie Blow and Emily Lauten of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team had a solid day in singles on Saturday in The Landings Clay Court Collegiate Invitational being played at The Landing Club. The event divides players into two groups for singles play with a round robin format for doubles and includes players from two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion Armstrong Atlantic State, The College of Charleston, Auburn-Montgomery and Virginia Tech.

In Saturday singles action, Lauten (Fr., Marietta, Ga.) defeated Morgane Zwoczka (Auburn-Montgomery), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), in a Group 1 match and followed that victory with a 6-3, 6-1, win over Hannah Appleyard (Auburn-Montomery). Blow (So., Richmond, Va.) won her Group 2 match, 6-3, 6-2, against Alisa Kagukina (Armstrong Atlantic State).

The Hokie duo dropped their lone doubles match, 8-3, against the mixed team of Holly Dowse (College of Charleston)/Kagukina (Armstrong Atlantic State). Play in the event concludes on Sunday with a round of doubles and on round of singles.
