BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will face No. 71 Marshall Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Hokies final non-conference match of the regular season. The contest will take place at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus and the first 100 fans will receive free popcorn and a drink in a VT Koozie.
Virginia Tech (10-10), ranked No. 62 in this week’s ITA national poll, will be looking to snap a six-match losing streak after dropping two road matches last week at No. 18 North Carolina and at No. 9 Duke. Tech has faced six top 25 teams during the losing streak.
Marshall (11-9) has won four in a row including a 6-1 home victory over Middle Tennessee State last Saturday. Tech leads the series 12-5 however Marshall won a tight 4-3 match last year in Huntington, Va.
Following Wednesday’s action, Tech will conclude the regular season with home matches against NC State Friday at 2 p.m. and versus No. 37 Wake Forest Sunday at 2 p.m. Prior to Sunday’s match, Tech seniors Inga Beermann, Jessica Brouwer and Abbey Walker will be honored.
