In singles, Sanaz Marand, ranked No. 61 nationally, blanked Inga Beermann (Sr., Bad Salzuflen, Germany), 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 and 63rd-ranked Katrina Tsang won the No. 2 match, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 1-0 (0), over Tech’s Jessica Brouwer (Sr., Maarssen, The Netherlands). Elsewhere, Laura Reichert beat Yasmin Hamza (So., Cairo, Egypt.), 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, Jelena Durisic eased past Courtney Rauscher (Fr., Evans, Ga.), 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (5) in the No. 5 match and Meg Fanjoy took the No. 6 contest, 6-4, 6-2, versus Holly Johnson (So., Tallahassee, Fla.).

In doubles, No. 61 Smith/Tsang edged No. 55 Brouwer/Johnson, 9-8 (1), at No. 1 and the Tar Heels clinched the doubles point as Fanjoy/Reichert took the No. 3 match, 8-4, over Hamza/Abbey Walker (Sr., Lancaster, S.C.). The Hokies took the No. 2 match where Beermann/Blakely defeated Marand/Haley Hemm, 8-5.
