BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team continues a tough end-of-the season stretch this week with its’ final road contests of the regular season at No. 18 North Carolina and at No. 9 Duke. The Hokies will face the Tar Heels Saturday at 11 a.m. and the Blue Devils Sunday at noon.
Virginia Tech (10-8, 1-6), ranked No. 58 in this week’s ITA national poll, dropped two home matches last week against No. 5 Miami and No. 25 Florida State. Tech has a four-match losing streak with all four opponents ranked in the top 25.
North Carolina (14-7, 4-3) collected road victories last week at Boston College (6-1) and Maryland (7-0) before dropping a 4-3 home contest to Duke.
Duke (15-3, 5-1) blanked both Maryland and Boston College on the road last week and then recorded the narrow win against the Tar Heels.
Following this weekend’s action, Tech will host Marshall on Wed., Apr. 8, at 2 p.m. then conclude the regular season with home matches against NC State (Apr. 10) and Wake Forest (Apr. 12).
