BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team heads south this week to New Orleans, La., for a Thursday match against Tulane. The 2 p.m. match will be held at the Goldring Tennis Center on the Tulane University campus.
Virginia Tech (8-3), ranked No. 45 in this week’s ITA national poll, is riding a two-match winning streak with victories over Maryland (5-2) and at Winthrop (6-1). Tech is led by Inga Beermann (Sr., Bad Salzuflen, Germany) who has compiled a 6-3 dual match record this year at the No. 1 position. The Hokies have also received solid play from freshmen Martha Blakely (Reading, Pa.) and Courtney Rauscher (Evans, Ga.) who have combined to produce a 15-5 dual match worksheet.
Tulane (8-8) dropped a tight 4-3 decision at home on Tuesday to Conference USA foe Central Florida.
After Thursday’s action, Tech will travel to Charlottesville, Va., on Sun., March 15, for a key ACC contest at No. 18 Virginia.
