BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team returns home Saturday for matches against Liberty and Davidson. The Hokies and Flames will meet at noon and the contest versus the Wildcats is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus and will be available on the the internet via ACC Select.
Virginia Tech (4-1), ranked No. 41 in this week’s ITA national poll, recorded an impressive 4-3 victory last weekend at No. 31 Ohio State. The Hokies won two of three tightly-contested doubles matches to take the doubles point then split the six singles matches for the win.
Liberty (1-3), prior to its’ match Friday at Campbell, defeated James Madison, 4-3, and has dropped matches against Old Dominion (0-7), Richmond (0-7) and Davidson (2-5). Davidson (3-1) has wins over South Carolina State (6-1), Wingate (7-0) and Liberty (5-2) with the lone loss versus Winthrop (1-6).
After Saturday’s action, Tech will travel to Richmond, Va. on Feb. 21 for a match against No. 34 Virginia Commonwealth.
