Hokies seventh entering final round at ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team has a two round total of 598 and is in seventh place entering the final round of the 2018 ACC Women’s Golf Championship. The three-day event is being played at the par 72, 6,122-yard East Course at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Hokies, the 11th seed in the tournament, shot a 300 on Saturday and improved to a 298 on Sunday.

Elizabeth Bose leads the Hokies individually. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia, has a two round total of 1-under 143 and is tied for seventh place individually. She trails leader Leona Maguire of Duke by six strokes. Bose’s 71 paced the Hokies on Sunday, as she birdied each of the last three holes. She had five birdies on the day.

Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, is tied for 22nd place at 149 and Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, is in 33rd place at 151. Allison Woodward, a redshirt junior from Unicoi, Tennessee, and, Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia are tied for 47th at 156.

Duke holds the team lead at 13-under 563, 17 strokes ahead of Florida State. Clemson is third at 583, Wake Forest is fourth at 590, North Carolina is fifth at 594 and Virginia is sixth at 595, three strokes ahead of the Hokies. Miami is eighth at 599, Louisville and North Carolina are tied for ninth at 602, Notre Dame is 11th at 604 and Boston College is 12th at 613.

The final round will be played Monday. The Hokies are grouped with Louisville and Miami and will begin at 8:50 a.m. from the 10th tee.
