Hokies begin Spring 2018 season in Florida
Women's golf to compete in the Moon Golf Invitational

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team will open the Spring 2018 portion of the schedule on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 19-20 at the Moon Golf Invitational. The two-day event will be played at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.
The Hokies enter the spring ranked 54th in Golfstat.com. Eight of the thirteen competing schools are ranked inside the top 75 nationally, led by ninth-ranked Furman. Tech is one of two ACC schools competing, along with host and 24th-ranked Louisville.
Elizabeth Bose will play in the first position for the Hokies. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia led the Hokies in scoring average in the fall at 73.33. Bose had two top 15 finishes in the fall, including a third place finish at the Minnesota Invitational, where she posted a school-record 8-under 208.
Jessica Spicer will start in the second spot for Tech. The sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, finished the fall in fourth place in scoring average. Her best finish of the fall season was 16th place at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Playing in the third spot for the Hokies is Emily Mahar. The freshman from Brisbane, Australia, had a strong fall season, finishing second in scoring average at 74.08. Mahar also had two top 15 individual finishes for the Hokies, a 13th at the Cardinal Cup and a 14th at the Minnesota Invitational in her first collegiate event.
Allison Woodward has earned the fourth position for Tech. The redshirt junior from Unicoi, Tennessee makes here season debut at the Moon Golf Invitational. She will compete in her 19th event as a Hokie, where she has a top 10 and two top 20 finishes.
Amanda Hollandsworth will play fifth for the Hokies. The redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, has competed in more events than any other Hokie. She was third in scoring average in the fall, at 74.50. She had her best finish of the fall at the Cardinal Cup, where she finished 19th.
The two-day event begins with a practice round on Sunday and will feature 36 holes of competition on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday morning. Live scoring will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
