Hokies tied for fourth entering final round in Louisville

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team has a two round total of 12-over 588 and is tied with East Carolina for fourth place at the Cardinal Cup. The two-day event is being played played at the par 72, 6,393-yard University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.

Tech shot 295 in Saturday’s morning round and followed that with a 293 in the afternoon round.

Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, is tied for second place at 143. She is tied with Kory Neilson of Kent State and the duo is nine strokes behind leader Lauren Harlage of host Louisville. Hollandsworth posted a pair of rounds par-or-better, at 71 and 72.

Anne Taylor Hough, a junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina, is tied for 19th place at 147 and Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, it 31st at 150. Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 38th at 153 and Elizabeth Bose, a junior from Norfolk, Virginia, is tied for 48th at 155.

Kristin Hearp, a redshirt freshman from Salem, Virginia, is playing the event as an individual. She is tied for 56th at 157.

Louisville leads the tournament with a 3-under 573, six strokes ahead of Kent State, 14 strokes ahead of Illinois and 15 strokes ahead of the Hokies and Pirates. Wisconsin is sixth at 590, Memphis is seventh at 596, Toledo is eighth at 601 and Murray State is ninth at 606. Kentucky and Charlotte are tied for 10th at 612, Richmond is 12th at 12th at 617, Columbia is 13th at 624 and Ball State is 14th at 629. Louisville is playing individuals as a “B” team, but that team does not count in team standings.

The final round will be played on Sunday with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. The Hokies will be grouped with ECU and Wisconsin. Live stats are available on the women’s golf schedule page of Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
