Hokies travel to Tar Heel Invitational

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to compete Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by UNC. The three-day event will be played at the par 72, 6,379-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.

This year’s Invitational features an elite field. Four out of the top seven teams will be competing, according Golfweek.com ranking, including No.1 Arkansas and No. 2 Alabama. In addition, seven top 25 teams and 12 top 50 teams, which include No.49 Virginia Tech, will compete in the event.

This is the Hokies’ first-ever trip to Chapel Hill. Tech is one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the 18-team field.

Leading off for the Hokies will be Elizabeth Bose. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia tied for third at the Minnesota Invitational and tied for 12th at the Lady Paladin Invitational so far this season. Bose currently leads the Hokies in stroke average.

Playing second for Tech is Emily Mahar. The freshman from Brisbane, Australia leads the Hokies in Crunch Time average and is second in stroke average. She finished 14th at Minnesota to open her collegiate career.

Playing in the third spot for the Hokies will be Amanda Hollandsworth. The redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, previously tied for 26th at the Lady Paladin Invitational last month.

Anne Taylor Hough, a junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina, will play in the fourth spot. She tied for 37th at the Lady Paladin Invitational.

Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, will round out the line-up. She tied for 16th place at the Lady Paladin Invitational. She is third in stroke average for the Hokies this season.

The tournament will play a three-day, 54-hole schedule with single rounds scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Hokies will be grouped in the first round with Ohio State and Michigan State and will tee off beginning at 9:54 a.m. from the first tee.
