BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s golfer Elizabeth Bose has been named to the 2017 VaSID All-State Women’s Golf team, in voting released Monday (June 19) by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). The team combines players from both the University and College divisions.
Bose, a rising junior from Norfolk, Virginia, led the Hokies in scoring average this past season. She had the Hokies’ best individual showing of the season, with a third place finish at the Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina.
An academic standout as well, Bose won the 2017 Skelton Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics, which goes each year to a rising junior, senior or fifth-year male and female student-athlete who has participated in intercollegiate athletics for at least two seasons at Tech and who holds an overall grade-point average of 3.40 or better. It is the highest designation handed out by the Tech athletics department. Bose was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 first team.
Joining Bose on the all-state first team were ODU’s Maggie Simmermacher and Katerina Vlasinova, Virginia’s Anna Redding, James Madison’s Maddisen Cox and Bridgewater College’s Christina Herbert.
