Elizabeth Bose earns academic honor

Sophomore golfer selected to Academic All-District 3 team

Virginia Tech women’s golfer Elizabeth Bose has been selected to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Women’s At-Large Team. The district teams are selected by members of CoSIDA and honor the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances in both athletics and in the classroom.

Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, is one of 10 student-athletes on the District 3 team. A biochemistry major at Virginia Tech, Bose was recently awarded the 2017 Skelton Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics, the top academic honor awarded by the Tech athletics department.

On the course, Bose led the Hokies in stroke average, at 75.15. She competed in every event for the Hokies this season; with one top five and two top twenty finishes. He best showing of the season was a third place finish at the Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The academic all-district teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and have at least a 3.30 grade point average.

Bose is one of two golfers and five Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes on the District 3 team. She will now be placed on the national ballot for voting later this month.
