Hokies finish 11th at ACC Championship

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a three round total of 916 and finished in 11th place at the 2017 ACC Women’s Golf Championship on Saturday afternoon. The three-day event was played at the 6,192 yard, par 72 The Reserve Golf Club in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina.

Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, led the Hokies with a 4-over 220, tying for 21st place individually. She finished 10 strokes behind medalist Leona Maguire of Duke. Bose had an even-par 72 in Saturday’s final round.

Whitney Stevenson, a senior from Canton, Georgia, Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia and Allison Woodward, a redshirt sophomore from Unicoi, Tennessee, all tied for 50th place at 236. Anne Taylor Hough, a sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, finished in 58th place at 240. Woodward had the Hokies’ best round of the tournament on Saturday, shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round.

Duke captured the team title with a 5-under 859, nine strokes better than runner-up Florida State. Miami was third at 874, North Carolina was fourth at 876, Clemson was fifth at 877 and NC State was sixth at 888. Louisville was seventh at 890, Virginia was eighth at 896 and Boston College and Notre Dame tied for ninth at 901, 15 strokes ahead of the Hokies. Wake Forest finished 12th at 931.
