Hokies tied for 10th after first round at ACC Championship

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted an opening-round 16-over 304 and is tied with Virginia for 10^th place at the 2017 ACC Women’s Golf Championship on Thursday afternoon. The three-day event is being played at the 6,192 yards and par 72 The Reserve Golf Club in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina.

Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, leads the Hokies with a 1-over 71, tied for 18^th place individually. She trails co-leaders Bryana Nguyen of North Carolina and Leona Maguire of Duke by five strokes.

Whitney Stevenson, a senior from Canton, Georgia, is tied for 27^th place at 74 and Allison Woodward, a redshirt sophomore from Unicoi, Tennessee, is tied for 43^rd place at 77. Anne Taylor Hough, a sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, is tied for 53^rd at 80 and Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia, is in 55^th place at 81.

Duke leads the tournament with a 4-under 284, one stroke ahead of Miami and three strokes ahead of a trio of Florida State, North Carolina and Clemson. NC State is sixth at 297 and Boston College, Louisville and Notre Dame are tied for seventh, six strokes ahead of the Hokies and Cavaliers. Wake Forest is 12^th at 312.
