March 25, 2017
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team will wrap-up the regular season portion of the spring schedule at the Henssler Intercollegiate, hosted by Kennesaw State on March 27-28 at Pinetree Country Club.
The 14-team field features teams from the East Coast, Midwest and Southwest. This is the first time competing in this event for the Hokies, the lone ACC team in the tournament.
Tech will play the same six student-athletes in this event as it has used throughout the spring schedule. The order and starting five will be determined before the tournament begins on Monday.
Players competing at Kennesaw include Whitney Stevenson, a senior from nearby Canton, Georgia. She is third on the team in scoring and finished sixth earlier this spring at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
Allison Woodward, a redshirt junior from Unicoi, Tennessee, will also compete for Tech. She finished 20th in the Hurricane Invitational to open the spring season.
Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia, will compete this week for the Hokies. She is second on the team in scoring this season and had a top five and top 10 individual finish in the fall semester. She finished 13th in Tech’s last event, last week at the 3M Augusta Invitational.
Also competing for the Hokies this week will be Anne Taylor Hough, a sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina. She tied for 24th last week in Augusta.
Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, will play this week. She leads the team in scoring and finished 14th in SunTrust Gator Invitational two weeks ago.
Jessica Spicer will round out the competitors for the Hokies. The freshman from Bahama, North Carolina, has played in every match this season and had a top 10 and top 20 finish during the fall portion of the schedule.
The Hokies will play a practice round on Sunday. The format is 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will see a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
