Hokies tied for 12th at 3M Augusta Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team has a two round total of 617 and is tied with Eastern Michigan for 12th place at the 3M Augusta Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the par 72, 6,428-yard Forest Hills Country Club in Augusta, Georgia.

The Hokies shot a 308 on Friday and followed that with 309 on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia, leads the Hokies. She has a two-round total of 3-over 147 and is tied for 13th place. Hollandsworth is 10 strokes behind leader Jessica Haigwood of host Augusta. Hollandsworth carded a 1-under 71 in Saturday’s second round.

Whitney Stevenson, a senior from Canton, Georgia, is tied for 60th at 157 and Allison Woodward, a redshirt sophomore from Unicoi, Tennessee, is tied for 62nd at 158. Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, is tied for 64th at 160 and Jessica Spicer, a freshman from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 71st at 163.

Anne Taylor Hough, a sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, is playing this tournament as an individual. She is tied for 20th overall at 148. She leads the eight individuals playing the event.

Purdue and Tennessee are the co-leaders entering Sunday’s final round. They each have an 8-over 584, four strokes ahead of Memphis and 11 strokes ahead of Augusta, Daytona State and East Tennessee State. Troy is seventh at 596, Ole Miss is eighth at 599 and Kennesaw State is ninth at 601. James Madison is 10th at 606 and Columbia is 11th at 615, two strokes ahead of the Hokies and Eagles. Coastal Carolina is 14th at 620.

The final round will be played Sunday morning, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The Hokies will be grouped with Columbia and James Madison. Live scoring will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
