JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a two-round total of 32-over par 608 and is tied with Murray State for 10th place at the UNF Collegiate on Monday afternoon. The 54-hole, two-day event is being played at the 6,002-yard, par 72 Jacksonville Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida.
Tech shot 309 in Monday’s morning round and improved 10 strokes in the afternoon. Tech’s 299 was tied for the fourth-best round of the afternoon session.
Whitney Stevenson, a senior from Canton, Georgia, leads the Hokies with a 3-over 147 and is tied for sixth place. She trails leader Sana Tufail of ODU by seven strokes.
Jessica Spicer, a freshman from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 28th at 152 and Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia is tied for 46th at 156. Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia, is tied for 54th at 158 and Allison Woodward, a redshirt sophomore from Unicoi, Tennessee, is tied for 64th at 160.
Anne Taylor Hough, sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, is playing the tournament as an individual and is tied for 74th place at 163.
Memphis and Old Dominion are tied for the lead at 20-over 596, two strokes ahead of Campbell and three strokes ahead of Eastern Kentucky. Southern Miss and Daytona State are tied for fifth at 601, College of Charleston and Delaware are tied for seventh at 604 and Mercer is ninth at 606, two strokes ahead of the Hokies and Racers. Charleston Southern is 12th at 617, host North Florida is 13th at 618, Western Kentucky is 14th at 627, Western Carolina is 15th at 635 and Wofford is 16th at 644.
The final round will be played on Tuesday and the Hokies will be grouped with Murray State and Charleston Southern. Live scoring will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
