Hokies 13th entering final round at Miami
Allison Woodward tied for ninth individually

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team has a two-round total of 29-over 605 and is in 13th place after the second round of the Hurricane Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The three-day event is being played at the par 72, 6,150-yard Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida.
Tech had a big individual highlight in the round, as Jessica Spicer, a freshman from Bahama, North Carolina, had a hole-in-one on the 142-yard, par 3 12th hole.
The Hokies, playing their first event of the spring season, shot a 297 on Monday. Tech followed that with a 308 on Tuesday.
Allison Woodward, a redshirt sophomore from Unicoi, Tennessee, made the big move in the tournament on Tuesday. She is playing the event as an individual and is tied for ninth place, at even-par 144. She shot her low round of the year on Tuesday, a three-under 69 to vault into the top 10. The 69 is tied for the best round of the day and of the tournament. She is three strokes off the lead entering the final round
Whitney Stevenson, a senior from Canton, Georgia, is tied for 17th place at 147. Elizabeth Bose, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, is tied for 22nd at 148 and Spicer is tied for 43rd at 151. Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt sophomore from Floyd, Virginia, and Anne Taylor Hough, a sophomore from Spartanburg, South Carolina, are tied for 77th at 160.
Louisville holds the lead entering the final round with a score of 2-under 574, three strokes better than Northwestern and eight strokes ahead of Michigan. Barry is fourth at 588, host Miami is fifth at 591, Penn State is sixth at 592 and Mercer is seventh at 597. USF and Middle Tennessee State are tied for eighth at 598, East Carolina is 10th at 599, Minnesota is 11th at 602 and FIU is 12th at 603, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Iowa State is 14th at 607 and South Dakota State is 15th at 614.
