BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team will compete at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic on Oct. 3-4, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Golfers will play at the Starmount Forest Country Club, which measures 6,118 yards in length. The Hokies will send a team of five to the event plus two individual competitors.
Senior Whitney Stevenson, redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth, sophomores Elizabeth Bose and Anne Taylor Hough and freshman Jessica Spicer comprise the team of five, as senior Mary-Katelyn Holanek and redshirt sophomore Allison Woodward will compete as individuals.
The 54-hole two-day tournament, hosted by UNC Greensboro, will see 36 holes of play on Monday, followed by 18 holes of play on Tuesday. The teams will tee off at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start.
UNCG will welcome 10 teams alongside Virginia Tech, including Boston, The Citadel, Marshall, N.C. A&T, Queens, Radford, Tennessee Tech, UNC Asheville, William & Mary and Winthrop.
Last week, the Hokies placed eighth in the field of 20 teams at the Lady Paladin Invitational held in Greenville, South Carolina. Hollandworth landed in the top five, pacing the Hokies at 3-under par (67-74-72=890) to finish fourth overall. The Floyd, Virginia, native also shot a career-low score of 67 on the first day of the tournament.
