BLACKSBURG – Redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth landed in the top five with her even par 72 in round three, as the Virginia Tech women’s golf team carded 15-over 303 on the third and final day of the Lady Paladin Invitational, on Sunday, to claim eighth place in the field of 20 teams, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Day Three Results

The Hokies had a three-day total of 26-over par (291-296-303=890) to finish six strokes behind Ole Miss, while Texas took home the team title at 11-under par.

Hollandsworth paced the Hokies at 3-under par (67-74-72=213), finishing fourth overall – just one stroke behind Illinois’ Bing Singhsumaiee in third. Of note, the Floyd, Virginia, native shot a career-low score of 67 on the first day of the tournament.

Sophomore Elizabeth Bose also posted a top-20 finish, tying for 15th place overall. Bose shot even par 72 two days in a row, before shooting 1-over 73 in the final 18 holes of play on Sunday. Bose finished one stroke over par throughout the three-day event (72-72-73=217).

Sophomore Anne Taylor Hough tied for 64th place with a score of 75-77-78=230. Hough shot 6-over 78 in the third and final day of the tournament and was 14-over par overall.

Freshman Jessica Spicer tied for 70th place with a three-day total of 77-73-81=231, while senior Mary-Katelyn Holanek rounded out the Hokie lineup at 24-over par, tying for 96th place overall (83-77-80=240).

Freshman Kristin Hearp shot as an individual at the Furman University Golf Course, recording a three-day score of 83-91-90=264 for 48-over par.

The Hokies return to the course next week for the two-day Starmount Fall Classic on Oct. 3-4, in Greensboro, North Carolina. UNC Greensboro will host the two-day tournament.
