BLACKSBURG – After a season low score of 291 (+3) on day one of the Lady Paladin Invitational, the Virginia Tech women’s golf team dropped into eighth place at the end of day two with an 8-over 296, on Saturday, at the Furman University Golf Course, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Day Two Results

After 36 holes of play, Furman and Texas are tied for first with a total score of 567, 9-under par, while Illinois (-4) jumped one spot into third to round out the top three in the 20-team field.

Two Hokie golfers sit in the top 15 on the leaderboard list, as redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth leads the way in fourth place overall. Hollandsworth shot a career-low 67 for 5-under par yesterday and carded a 2-over 74 in round two (67-74=141). Sophomore Elizabeth Bose shot even par 72 for the second day in a row, jumping three spots to No. 14 on the leaderboard list (72-72=144).

Freshman Jessica Spicer rebounded in round two, shooting 1-over 73 to tie for 48th place in the field with a two-day total 6-over par (77-73=150). Sophomore Anne Taylor Hough is two strokes behind her in a tie for 57th place at 8-over par (75-77=152).

Senior Mary-Katelyn Holanek rounded out the Hokie lineup and is 16-over (83-77=160) for the tournament, sitting in 96th place overall.

Freshman Kristin Hearp also entered the tournament as an individual, carding 30-over (83-91=174) after 36 holes of play.

The Hokies will tee off in tomorrow’s third and final round at 9 a.m.
