Hokies open spring at Florida State Matchup
Tech takes on field in unique 12-team tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team open the spring portion of their inaugural season on Friday at the Florida State matchup. The Hokies will tee off at 9:26 a.m. and are paired with fellow Virginia natives, James Madison.

The 12-team tournament is the most unique of all collegiate golf tournaments as it pairs two teams that not only compete against each other but compete with each other against the other five match-ups. At the end of three days and 54 holes of golf, a team champion, a match-up champion and an individual champion are crowned as one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year. Last year’s champions, Florida State and Texas A&M, are back to protect their title with the individual champions taking the course as well.

The Hokies have faced four teams in the field previously this season: Florida State, Coastal Carolina, Furman and James Madison.
