BLACKSBURG – Nora McKiver of the Virginia Tech women’s track and field team will compete in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2017 USA Track and Field Indoor Championships on Sunday, March 5, held inside the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sixteen athletes are scheduled to participate in the event, with the semifinals starting at 3:40 p.m. ET, followed by the finals at 6:54 p.m.
McKiver, a senior from High Point, North Carolina, qualified for the 60-meter hurdles at the Hokie Invitational on Jan. 19, after running the event in 8.39 seconds. She came in second place, just a hundredth of a second behind Florida’s Timetria Mitchell. Since qualifying for the USA Championships, McKiver eclipsed a new personal-best time of 8.34 seconds, winning the event at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Feb. 17.
McKiver took a redshirt season during the Hokies’ indoor campaign, running unattached at five meets this season. She took a redshirt season because of an injury during Tech’s outdoor season last spring, so she’ll have both indoor and outdoor eligibility in 2018 as a fifth-year senior.
At the 2016 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, McKiver earned second-team All-ACC honors in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes.
