EUGENE, Ore. - Thomas Curtin earned First Team All-America honors after taking seventh place in the men’s 5000-meter race to pace the Hokies on the final day of men’s competition at the NCAA Division I 2015 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Oregon Friday evening.
Curtin went out with power and speed, as he led through the first 3000 meters of the race. With less than half the race to go, Curtin fell behind, but then used a powerful kick in the final two laps to power his way to a seventh-place finish overall with a time of 13:52.11. He earned the third First Team All-America honor of his career.
Marek Barta competed on the final day for the men as well, but fouled on all three of his throws in the discus.
Hanna Green will be competing in the 800-meter final on Saturday, with her race set to go off at 6:20 p.m.
