RADFORD, Va. - Several Hokies put together quality performances to close out the Highlander Invite hosted by Radford University.

Jordan Roach won the men’s discus throw with a mark of 168’7” (51.40m). Roach’s throw was over eight feet further than the throw of the second place competitor.

Tomas Kruzliak ousted the competition in the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 209’00” (63.70m). Kruzliak’s throw was almost 35 feet further than the second-place competitor at the competition.

In the men’s 100-meter dash, Alex Ellison ran a time of 11.88 seconds before posting a time of 11.93 seconds in the finals to finish in third place. In addition, Ellison finished in third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.58 seconds.

The men’s 110-meter hurdles saw Aaron Simpson finish in second place after posting a time of 15.16 seconds in the finals. In the preliminary races, Simpson posted a time of 15.07 seconds.

The men’s 800-meter race saw Travis Correa finish in fourth place with a time of 1:53.81 while teammate Griffin Carmichael finished just behind him with a time of 1:54.64.

Alexander Merritt and Austin Kolko posted a one-two finish in the men’s 400-meter hurdles. Merritt finished in first with a time of 54.25 seconds while Kolko finished just behind him with a time of 54.65 seconds.

Johnna Dominick won the women’s high jump. Dominick cleared 5’2” (1.57m) to take the first-place finish.

Courtney Blanden won the women’s 100-meter dash during the preliminary races with a time of 12.40 seconds. She did not participate in the finals.

Christine London won the women’s 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:02.35.

Tech will be back in action next weekend at the Tennessee Challenge and the Payton Jordan Invitational.
