GREENSBORO, N.C. - After an impressive performance at the Virginia Challenge, Manuel Ziegler was named the ACC Field Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Ziegler posted a career best in the long jump, climbing the national rankings to the No. 2 spot at the Virginia Challenge. Ziegler’s mark of 25-10.25 (7.88m) is the second furthest jump in Virginia Tech school history and is the current ACC leader. The senior from Dresden, Germany is also the only ACC competitor currently ranked in the nation’s top 10 in the event.
Ziegler is the third Hokie to receive this honor this outdoor season as Irena Sediva claimed the honor twice and Chris Uhle earned the distinction last week.
The Hokies will be back in action this weekend as they head to the Penn Relays and the Radford Relays.
