GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second straight week, Hokie javelin thrower Irena Sediva was named the ACC Field Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Sediva shattered a 17-year old ACC record in the women’s javelin throw, jumping to 10th all-time in NCAA history. Sediva's throw of 190-4 (58.02m) at the Florida Relays bested her own school record mark set in the previous weekend and topped the previous ACC mark, set by Ann Crouse of Virginia in 1998, by just over two feet. The Czech Republic native currently ranks first in the nation, more than 10 feet ahead of the nearest competitor.
The Hokies will be back in action this weekend at the Tennessee Relays.
