Hokies kick off Doc Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet with solid finishes
Tech will conclude the meet tomorrow afternoon

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Manuel Ziegler set a season best to finish in second place in the men’s triple jump to kick off day one of the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet.

Ziegler’s jump of 53’3.75 (16.25m) was his best this season. Ziegler currently ranks in the top five nationally in the triple jump. It came down to the last jump, but Louiville’s Ben Williams was able to hit the furthest mark in the nation to surpass Ziegler and finish in first place.

Grant Pollock posted a second-place finish in the men’s 800-meter race. Pollock crossed the finish line in a time of 1:51.29, the fastest by a VT runner this season.

Jeffrey Linta finished in a tie for second place in the men’s unseeded pole vault. Linta hit a height of 15’05.50” (4.71m).

After qualifying for the final race in the men’s 60-meter dash, Dante Price finished in seventh place with a time of 6.93 seconds.

Ashkan Mohammadi finished in eighth place in the men’s mile hitting a time of 4:10.57.

For the women, Emma King finished in ninth place in the women’s unseeded pole vault with a mark of 11’10.75” (3.63m).

Nora McKiver finished in 12th place in the women’s 200-meter open race. McKiver hit a PR of 24.67 seconds.

Tech will be back in action tomorrow with events starting at 11 a.m.
