Dowd, Munz named First Team Academic All-District
Pair eligible for Academic All-America honors to be announced later this month
BLACKSBURG, Va. – With a pair of stellar careers on the track and in the classroom, both Stephan Munz and Frances Dowd have been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District First Teams for District 3. This distinction makes them eligible to receive 2013-14 Capital One All-America honors.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 on a 4.0 academic scale as well as be a valuable member to one’s team.

Stephan Munz who won the 2014 ACC outdoor title in the men’s pole vault, is currently pursuing a graduate degree and holds a 3.72 grade point average in Curriculum & Instruction.

Dowd, a former All-American, has held a 4.0 in Environmental and Policy Planning throughout her collegiate career.

Munz will be competing this weekend at the NCAA East Regional in hopes of qualifying for nationals.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
