BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams will play host for their second home meet of the year for the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational at Rector Fieldhouse when 18 men’s and 18 women’s teams gather to compete.
Five teams will represent the ACC including Maryland, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech.
Last weekend, several tech women put up quality performances at the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Fieldhouse. Sarah Rapp, running the women’s one-mile race, finished in second place with a time of 4:51.36, the fourth fastest time in the ACC this season. In the women’s high jump, Johnna Dominick placed second with a mark of 1.70m, the ninth highest jump in the ACC this year. Martina Schultze earned the Hokies a first place finish on the pole vault with an ACC leading 4.30m jump.
On the men’s side, the Hokies dominated the 1000-meter race with Grant Pollock and Juan Campos finishing first and second respectively. Pollock finished in 2:25.99 with Campos finishing right behind him in 2:26.52. In the men’s one-mile race, Leoule Degfae finished second with a time of 4:10.36, earning the third fastest time in the ACC this season.
The meet will begin on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. and continue Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
