BOONE, N.C. – The Virginia Tech track & field team will kick off the 2013-14 indoor track season at the Appalachian Invitational hosted by Appalachian State University on Friday.
Tech will be sending several pole vaulters and multiple-event athletes to compete in the meet.
Last year, the men’s team was able to capture the ACC title at the 2013 ACC Indoor Championships edging out second place Florida State by 17 points, while the women’s team finished in ninth place.
On the men’s side, Chris Uhle and Jared Allison who placed fifth and 11th, respectively, at last year’s ACC Championship in the pole vault will be competing at the Appalachian Invitational as well as multi-event athlete Matt Hoogland who finished eighth in the heptathlon last year.
For the women, Leigh Allin and Lyndsey Saunders, who finished in a tie for 9th in the pole vault at last year’s ACC Championships, will be competing alongside several Virginia Tech newcomers at the meet.
All of the events that Tech will be competing in will be held on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
