KAZAN, Russia – Junior pole vaulter Martina Schultze competed at the 27th Summer University Games and brought home a silver medal while representing her home country of Germany. Schultze set a new personal best for the fourth time this year when she cleared 14 feet, 5.25 inches (4.40m), and finished second to Anastasia Savchenko of Russia who cleared 14 feet, 9 inches (4.50 meters).
As a sophomore this past year, the Uhingen, Germany native won both indoor and outdoor conference titles in the pole vault. Schultze earned first team All-America honors after notching an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, following a third-place indoor finish in the winter.
